About David Rymer

Profile

After a corporate career spent in marketing, consulting, major events and lecturing in
journalism, marketing, and law at universities in the UAE and Australia, David
thought it was a good time he got a real job. A past contributor to the Australian Financial
Review on leadership and innovation, David now writes full time as a freelance writer
of both fiction and commercial Non-Fiction. In his fiction work, David enjoys writing
explosive action stories peppered with devious plot twists and compelling characters
with an ability to surprise. His unpublished manuscript Havoc was a semi-finalist in
the U.S. ScreenCraft Cinematic Book Competition (2022).

Currently a doctoral candidate examining a long-neglected genre, Australian
espionage fiction, David is working on his thesis: Embracing the Chaos: Unlocking
the Covert Life of Australian Espionage Fiction From 2001 to the present day.

David has also been known to wax lyrical about art. In September 2019 he authored
The World in Prints: The History of Advertising Posters from the Late 19th Century to
the1940s published in Italy for an international audience. In 2020 It was translated
into French, German, and Italian.

His passion for history saw David contribute 98 articles to Give Me History an
independent, Internet-based publication designed to benefit history enthusiasts,
teachers, and their students.

His creative writing style was buffed by the Australian Writing Centre, building on the
product of a screenwriting course at the Australian Film, Television and Radio
School.

Earlier David completed a Master in Business and Technology (Innovation
Sustainability) at UNSW, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts (Literature & Mass
Communications) from Macquarie University.
